Domaine du Météore wines arrive for Spring 2023 at The Fine Wine Importers in Lewes, East Sussex.

We are very excited to have taken delivery of 3 new vintages from Domaine du Météore.

Domaine du Météore is another or our unique Languedoc wine suppliers from the exquisite Faugeres appellation from Southern France.

Ten thousand years ago, a meteorite struck a hillside in Southern France. Today, Domaine du Météore's vines grow within and around its cater. High up in the Languedoc mountains the domaine spans the schist soils of Faugeres and Saint-Chinian. Surrounded by garrigue with the scent of wild thyme, citrus and oregano, the domaine makes organic wines inspired by its land and history. 

Named after the 300 meter-wide meteorite crater which sits at its heart, the domaine is situated in the village of Cabreolles, at over 300 meters of altitude in the foothills of the Haut-Languedoc mountains. The rocky, schistous terroir is rarely found elsewhere, and they are unique in having vines in two of area's most famous appellation Faugeres and Saint-Chinian (Roquebrun).

Domaine du Meteore, Perseides 2020

Perseides (rouge) 2020 from Domaine du Meteore, in the Faugeres Appellation, is a delicious organic wine with a blend of syrah, grenache and mourvedre. The wine combines mineral notes, cocoa beans, Sichuan pepper and a hint of menthol. Rich with a freshness to the finish, this is a perfect illustration of schist terroir.After de-stemming, the grapes are soaked for a full six weeks to bring out the wine’s garnet hues. Following fermentation, it’s matured for fourteen months in fine Burgundy oak, then for a further fourteen in stainless steel. Faugères Appellation d’Origine Protégée. Domaine du Meteore Les Leonides 2019. A vibrant ruby colour, blackcurrant bud on the nose with thyme flower, mandarin and a touch of balsamic. Fresh and crisp in the mouth, silky tannins and a fruity long finish which is dense, meaty and grippy. Domaine du Meteore, Le Météore, rosé, 2021 - AOP Faugeres Organic rosé

Dry and delicate, it has aromas of raspberry, strawberry and grapefruit, with a hint of white pepper, while round, smooth and fresh on the palate with brightness and balanced acidity.
