Pair of Bordeaux wines from Chateau Haut-Pougnan, Red & White

A pair of Bordeaux wines, a red and white from Chateau Haut-Pougnan: 
 
The red is a classic Bordeaux mix of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Located between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers its limestone and gravel soils lend itself to the Merlot grape providing a rich fruity taste. Well balanced tannins with some vanillary notes after a year in oak barrels.
 
It is a multi award winning wine, with the 2020 vintage producing an authentic and unpretentious taste of an old fashioned Bordeaux family wine. Simply delicious.
 
The white is an Entre-Deux-Mers, Bordeaux, 2022. A delicate and light white predominately made up of Sauvignon Blanc (70%). It has a well balanced acidity with a floral nose and is neither too dry or too fruity. It is also 25% Semillion and 5% Muscadelle. In our view it is an excellent spring / summer wine and this 2022 vintage is of exceptional quality.
